About & editorial policy

A universe remembered.

A growing reference to the people, places, and histories of The Flaxen Tyranny.

The Flaxen Archive is an author-supported companion to Simon Evans’s The Flaxen Tyranny. It follows the interconnected encyclopedia tradition of established literary fan wikis, with original writing and design.

Inside the universe

Lore articles describe people and events as historical subjects within their own universe. The archive’s navigation, source notes, and book information sit outside that voice. Neutral descriptions of oppressive institutions and their language do not endorse those institutions.

Sources and certainty

Entries are based on all 39 chapters of the first edition (2023), using printed page numbers. Article sections carry numbered source links; chapter indexes let you follow those references. No full manuscript or downloadable book is included.

Testimony, disputed claims, theories, and predictions remain attributed to their speakers. Unresolved matters remain unresolved. Spelling variants are consolidated as aliases where the text supports a shared identity. Inconsistent numerical claims are not silently repaired into new lore.

You control the spoilers

Spoiler-light mode shows introductory names and summaries. Later entries are withheld from indexes and search until you enable the full archive. A direct visit to an article still conceals its detailed history until you reveal that record. Your browsing choice is saved only in this browser.

Without JavaScript, full histories are visible and the archive displays a clear warning. Search, filtering, and spoiler controls require JavaScript.

Illustration and canon

Images are artistic interpretations, including AI-generated artwork. They help visitors imagine the universe; invented visual details, insignia, and layouts do not establish additional canon. Story evidence takes precedence over artwork.

Coverage and corrections

This founding edition includes major subjects and minor named references identified across the complete book. A short entry may reflect the limits of the surviving information. The archive can expand as further source review or author clarification becomes available.

Article content is maintained in structured local files. There is no public editing, user account system, or discussion board in this edition.

Design references

The category and cross-reference approach takes inspiration from The Coppermind’s categorization guidance. The site uses its own layout, prose, identity, and artwork.

Search by name, alias, or subject.
