Cylli's entrance uses an invisible airtight forcefield as its inner barrier. The system admits a ship while retaining the habitat's atmosphere.
Also recorded as: Cylli forcefield, Adaptive airlock
Adaptive opening
Cylli scans Echo's dimensions down to the nanometer and disables the field only where the hull passes through it. The ship therefore enters without conventional inner doors opening into space.[1]
Recovery mission
When Cylli admitted Eastcott and Silver to the base, the scorpion passed through a forcefield that held the atmosphere inside. The outer sliding doors then closed behind it.[2]
