Brookes crippled Echo with three enhanced hawks and boarded under threat of a sphere-drive detonation. He installed Vidar in control of the vessel and imprisoned its company.
Also recorded as: Fall of Echo
Deception in combat
Brookes ordered two hawks to fire below their full power, causing Echo's crew to concentrate on the seemingly strongest central craft. They destroyed it, but the other two disabled Echo's armor and weapons. Brookes demanded entry to the shuttle bay.[1]
Engineering takeover
In engineering, Brookes used a data stick to trigger Echo's apparent erasure. He announced the vessel's new name as Vidar. Eastcott struck him, and Brookes shot away his arm. Echo had secretly transferred to the asteroid base rather than being erased.[1][2]
