A Dyson swarm is a proposed system of artificial structures orbiting a star to gather its energy. Echo considered such a system one possible cause of Vega's diminished light.

Inference at Vega
Echo compared Vega's light with records from the expedition's departure and found that it had faded. He said structures collecting its energy were one explanation and that their builders would be millennia ahead of contemporary humanity. No swarm was directly confirmed.[1]
