Marcus is a boy imprisoned at Camp Skadi with his mother and younger brother Davy. Serilda Corazon encourages him to care for his brother and rewards both children with cheese.
Care for Davy
Davy reports that Marcus has treated him kindly and helped their mother wash his clothes. Marcus initially answers that work protects prisoners from the red circles; Serilda instead stresses strength of spirit. He repeats his mother's belief that Serilda is an angel sent by God.[1]
