The red circles are a feared presence associated with death among Camp Skadi's prisoners. Megan and the children ask whether the circles will glow or threaten them.
Protection
Serilda assures Megan that the circles will not glow while she keeps Flint under her control. Davy admits he is afraid of them, and his family fears they may soon die. These early accounts do not explain the circles' physical mechanism.[1][2]
