Authority
Flint intervenes when Major Damien Scenery assaults Serilda before the camp's curfew. He threatens summary execution for insubordination and orders the major to clean latrines for a week. His apparent defense of Serilda serves his own interest in her rather than a general rejection of the camp system.[1]
Serilda's deception
Flint regularly arrives drunk and divulges fragments of military information while Serilda replenishes his Ribous. She induces false memories of intimacy after he loses consciousness and removes provisions for the prisoners. Flint tells his subordinates that she visits to clean his home; sexual fraternization with humans is forbidden under Flaxen law.[2]
Removal and intelligence
The Flaxens condemned Flint for gross incompetence after the camp was infiltrated. His replacement resumed mass killing. Before Flint's execution, Serilda obtained information from his speech and dreams about an infrasound weapon and a research station in the Andes; she warned Eastcott that Flint's drunken statements and abstract dreams might not all be reliable.[3][4]
