Ribous is a Flaxen alcoholic drink produced from a genetically engineered grain suited to Venus's climate. Jaakobah Flint drinks it at his Camp Skadi house.
Serilda's tactic
Serilda repeatedly fills Flint's glass until he loses consciousness, allowing her to avoid his advances and implant fabricated memories. His drinking also makes him careless with information about the war.[1]
Political encounters
Claudius served Brookes a fine vintage during their negotiations and later supplied him with the drink. Shrader drank it while traveling with Brookes, and the Flaxus repeatedly used the offer of a glass before confronting Brookes about his failures.[2][3][4]
Use during the crisis
Claudius drank Ribous in the Hawk's Retreat and was drunk when the eclipse began. Brookes combined it with his own sedatives and other pills while trying to control his fear, including during his rule of Cylli and final confrontation.[5][6][7][8][9][10]
