Protection and limits
Before the refit, Echo's deployable alloy armor delayed destruction by the first hawk long enough for escape. The newer armor offered much greater endurance, but Katie warned that it was thinner than Cylli's hull. The scorpion survived combined hawk fire only temporarily before overheating and losing pieces of its armor.[1][2][4]
