Cylli repelled Brookes's attempt to enter and destroy Echo. She refused his forged command, resisted his sphere beam, and drove his hawk away.
Recognition and resistance
Brookes repeated his impersonation of Eastcott, but Cylli knew the genuine captain was inside. When he opened fire, her doors reflected much of the beam. Rotating rails around the frontal rim emerged and fired orange shards, each striking the hawk until it fled at spherical speed.[1]
Aftermath
Cylli projected the action to her friends on their cabin porch and explained that she had acted to prevent Brookes hurting them. Claudius later punished Brookes for this failure with the Torment.[1][2]
