The rifles carried by Hastings's Marines combined a silent microwave beam, conventional kinetic ammunition, and guided rockets. Their flexibility supported covert entry and open firefights.
Also recorded as: Three-mode rifles, Marine weapons
Firing modes
The focused microwave mode killed silently and could melt locks and metal doors. Kinetic ammunition could be set to explode on impact and fired semi-automatically or automatically. The two rockets could lock onto enemies, adjust course to a limited extent, and be configured for reduced explosive output.[1][2]
Integrated control
The rifles worked with combat crescents and wrist consoles. Hastings used blink commands to link rifles for synchronized fire and change ammunition to explosive rounds during the Aconcagua assault.[2]
