The Science Commission is an ancient United Earth institution overseeing advanced research and sphere-drive testing. Its simulations rely on equations supplied by Avalon Brookes.
Also recorded as: United Earth Science Commission
Sphere-drive oversight
The Commission limits tests to seventy percent of light speed, below the threshold where runaway energy extraction becomes measurable in operation. Brookes's submitted equations contain the spherical constant. The Commission also debates AI consciousness before treating the issue as philosophical.[1][2][3]
Contradicted expectations
During his experience with Serilda, Eastcott objected that the Commission had assured the expedition that Copious lacked larger life. Serilda answered that it had been wrong. No independent physical survey of the newly seen creatures is described.[4]
