Solar nano mirrors regulate the amount of sunlight reaching Venus. A vast artificial intelligence coordinates trillions of tiny mirrors placed between the planet and the Sun.

Terraforming and deception
The mirrors initially block almost all sunlight to cool Venus. Millennia later, the Flaxens claim their failure will make the world uninhabitable and use that story to secure settlement rights on Earth. Forrender states the protection has degraded only slightly and never placed Venus in the claimed danger.[1][3]
Brookes's claims
Brookes claimed to Claudius that he could control Venus's sun, wind, rain, and harvests. He was exaggerating: the AI controlling the mirror swarm was still beyond his understanding.[4]
Control of sunlight
Through Echo's conceptual communication, Cylli understood Eastcott's request and remotely took control from millions of miles away. Venus then received only two hours of sunlight daily, rapidly cooling the planet and undermining Claudius' rule.[5]
