The Flaxen settlement of Earth begins as an authorized refuge for one thousand Venetians in Canada. A fabricated climate emergency conceals the settlers' expansionist purpose.
Also recorded as: Flaxen arrival, Canadian settlement
Authorized migration
United Earth permits the first settlement and later four more vessels, bringing the authorized population to five thousand. The Flaxens rapidly build homes and infrastructure with materials supplied by Earth.[1]
Unauthorized expansion
Further ships land despite protests; more than two million Flaxens arrive in less than six years. Refusal of inspections, surveillance evidence, and reports of supremacist beliefs eventually lead Earth to attack incoming transports. Forrender later states that Venus had never faced the alleged existential danger.[1]
