The Flaxen conquest of Earth is the prolonged war that follows the expansion of the Venetian settlements. By Echo's return, the Flaxens control the Americas and threaten the remaining human territories on two fronts.
Also recorded as: Flaxen war, Earth–Venus war, War for Earth
Renewed war
A ten-year peace allows the Flaxens to build escort craft and factories on Earth, while humanity improves aircraft and orbital attack vessels. During renewed fighting the Flaxens take the Americas and open African and Asian offensives. Echo assesses that complete human defeat will follow within three years without outside help.[1][2]
Occupation
The conquest includes widespread camps, forced labor, and the murder of captives judged unfit for work. Both sides agree to prohibit attacks on orbital objects, protecting the communication satellites neither can adequately defend.[1]
First war and armistice
Earth destroys incoming Flaxen transports after unauthorized migration continues. The Flaxens invade south from Canada and conduct devastating air raids against Europe. Earth's orbital attacks threaten the supply fleet sufficiently to force a peace, leaving the Flaxens in possession of nearly all North America, including much of Mexico.[2]
