Earth is humanity’s homeworld and the birthplace of United Earth. Almost ten thousand years after Echo’s departure, it is divided by the war against Flaxen conquest.

Collapse and rebuilding
The Titan devastates Earth's population, followed by resource conflict, starvation, and the loss of technological infrastructure. A religious government suppresses advanced machinery for millennia until the revolution begun by William Hornica restores scientific study. The reindustrialized world eventually re-forms United Earth.[2][4]
Flaxen war
A settlement authorized for one thousand Flaxens in Canada expands through further permitted and unauthorized landings. After initial hostilities and a ten-year peace, Flaxen forces conquer the Americas and advance into Africa and Asia. Echo estimates that, without intervention, United Earth faces complete defeat within three years.[3][4]
Military geography
The British Isles formed the heart of United Earth, while the Americas were central Flaxen territory. Africa contained major Flaxen military bases, and the Flaxens were advancing in Eastern Asia. United Earth's survival depended in part on superior intelligence and the information supplied by half-Flaxens.[5][6][7]
Final campaign
Eastcott's forces destroyed the remaining extermination chambers, while a combined mental operation turned some Flaxen formations against others. Brookes' later orbital bombardment struck both Humans and Flaxens, leaving a delicate ceasefire while the Flaxen factions continued fighting.[9][10][11][12]
After the war
Some of Echo's former crew chose to settle on Earth. United Earth confined convicted war criminals in the Canadian tundra and prepared for a possible future threat from the horde.[13]
