York was a regional capital of United Earth and the most heavily populated city in Europe. Flaxen bombers deliberately attacked its population centers after Serilda's extraction.
Bombing
United Earth fighters reduced the incoming air force but withdrew after severe losses. Roughly two hundred bombers reached York and ignored military and government targets. Echo estimated deaths using the city's population density and infrared readings of the explosions; Serilda later learned a toll of nearly six thousand from Ensign Soriah.[1][2]
