William Walzack is a Martian research scientist identified as patient zero of the Titan pandemic. He becomes infected after Titan-derived organisms escape containment.

Initial infection
Following infection, Walzack develops profound cognitive disturbance and kills two colleagues who attempt to restrain him. Authorities initially interpret the deaths as the result of a psychotic episode, before recognizing the wider disease.[1]
