Under Brookes' orders, Vidar bombarded the African front with rail-gun slugs. The indiscriminate attack killed both United Earth soldiers and Flaxens.

Strike and aftermath
Brookes ordered attacks across the frontier, expecting everyone within half a mile of each impact to be vaporized. The strike reversed the war's immediate course. Forrender later said it had destroyed as many Flaxens as United Earth troops, while a ceasefire and Flaxen civil conflict followed.[1][2]
