Monitoring the Flaxens
Before open hostilities, human intelligence analyzes transport vessels and plants surveillance equipment in Flaxen territory, exposing their hostile intentions. During the later war, mentally gifted human–Flaxen hybrids serve within intelligence agencies; one captive woman has been tracked since childhood.[1][2][3]
Serilda
Eppleston requested that Serilda be handed over to the agency after her rescue. Eastcott refused because she wished to remain aboard Echo.[4]
Mental intelligence
The operatives varied in ability; some influenced minds, some read thoughts, particularly during sleep, and one combined their minds for more accurate information. A specialist located Serilda and was exhausted merely by concentrating on her. Double agents also operated in Flaxen territory and government.[6][7][8]
A new use of the team
At Eastcott's suggestion, the team used Serilda's power and experiences to affect military leaders rather than gather plans. Nine generals and three air marshals were targeted. The operatives worked sealed away in concentration, and the effort depleted them and left Serilda unconscious.[7][8]
