Overcrowding and care
Two or three prisoners share bunks barely large enough for one woman. The residents segregate those with the worst illnesses to reduce infection, and cries of suffering accompany the persistent stench. Serilda supplies water, stolen food, wound care, and assistance for those unable to drink unaided.[1][2]
Extraction
Serilda refused rescue unless her cellmates received help. The Marines treated the sick prisoners with broad-spectrum antibiotics, left their ration bars and water, and took Megan with Serilda. Hastings carried Megan while Serilda walked to the shuttle.[3]
