Hubritians is the name later societies give the people of the advanced pre-Titan civilization. Their legacy is interpreted first as an example of sinful arrogance and later as a model for scientific recovery.

Memory and myth
Echo suspects the name derives from the word hubris. Religious leaders claim the Titan punished the Hubritians for interfering with nature. William Hornica reverses that judgment, teaching that their knowledge offers humanity a better future.[1][2]
Reputation
During Echo's early campaign, rumors spread among the Flaxens that United Earth had discovered Hubritian technology. Brookes described Echo's conversion for colonization as a Hubritian decision that reduced its armament.[3][4]
Legacy and cooperation
Experiences transmitted to Snelder recalled the old conflict involving Mars and Earth and their later cooperation in transforming Venus. Their exploratory work had found no life comparable to the worlds they valued.[5]
Defenses and medicine
Records from their military facilities concerned the horde, which their successors discovered had once been expected approximately four thousand years earlier. Brookes said they spent centuries preparing and claimed their medical technology could extend the survivors' lives for another century and a half.[7]
